ABOUT: The Founder
“The Fair-trading Co was founded by Paula Rogers. Paula’s experience in product development and production spans more than 20 years. Starting in the 80’s with a UK sole supplier to Marks & Spencer Plc, Paula move to Hong Kong in the mid 90’s to work with the sportswear brand, Umbro. In 1998, she took up the post of General Manager for Li & Fung Trading, to oversee production, quality and social compliance of their 6,000 factories in over 80 countries, for a wide range of major global retailers.”

In 2003, Paula moved to Australia to raise her young family, where she turned her mind to giving something back. Inspired by BRAC-Aarong during a number of trips to Bangladesh and her work in Social Compliance, Paula started working with BRAC-Aarong to bring fair trade products to Australian retail. This project has become an on-going successful reality in the creation of BANG consortium P/L, www.bangconsortium.com.

Finding ways to make Fair trade more accessible/affordable to consumers, thinking of making a choice beyond themselves, has been a long held aspiration for Paula and is realized in her establishment of The Fair-trading Company P/L.

She has been a member of the Fair Trade Association of Australia and New Zealand (FTAANZ) since 2004 and a founder member of Fair Trader’s of Australia, and currently sits on both their Executive Committee. Paula is also a founder and current Director of The Bangladesh Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BACCI), and an Associate member of the Textile Institute, London since 1987.

She holds a Diploma in Textile Technology, an Associates Degree in Clothing Management from the Textile Institute, in London, and a Post Graduate in Export Marketing, from Boston University, MA, USA.
